Standing tall at 1221m above sea level, Mount Minthi in Ilias, Peloponnese is the highest mountain in Olympia. The mountain's name derives from a Greek legend, which tells the tale of the nymph Minthi's transformation into an aromatic plant, named after Hades' mother-in-law Demeter, due to her relationship with the god of the underworld. Sadly, the lush vegetation of Mount Minthi was ravaged by a fire in 2007, leaving only a few sparse forests remaining.
