Aposelemis Gorge in Analispi, Crete
Heraklion Gorges - Aposelemis Gorge in Analipsi, Crete is the most significant geological canyon in the Northern region of Crete, conveniently located near the resort of Analipsi. The Aposelemis River runs through the canyon, which only has water after heavy rain, while the river flows during all wet months. The gorge presents an excellent opportunity for hiking and exploring the surrounding areas, where a path is provided for easier access. The canyon boasts of old trees such as oak, holly, holm, carob, osier, and others. To access Aposelemis Gorge in Analipsi, take the north exit and follow the dirt road from the old national bridge to the canyon. The trail starts after passing the picturesque, abandoned village of Plevris and under the new highway bridge. Allow at least two hours to cross the canyon.
