Kechrovouni Monastery in Tinos, Greece
Tinos Churches & Monasteries - Kechrovouni Monastery, also referred to as Lady of the Angels, is a 10th-11th century monastery perched on the sloping hills of Kechrovouni in Tinos, Greece. From a distance, it looks like a fortified village, but it is, in fact, the monastery that three sisters from Tripotamos, led by Osia Pelagia, built according to tradition. It was here at Kechrovouni Monastery in Tinos that Osia Pelagia, who became a nun, had a dream that led her to discover the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary. Every July 23rd, Nun Pelagia's name day is celebrated in honor of this event.
