Athens Churches & Monasteries - The Agios Konstantinos & Elenis Church is situated in Omonoia, near the Metaxourgio locality, and is widely considered one of Athens' most impressive churches. Initially dedicated to Prince Konstantinos of Greece in 1868, the church underwent construction from 1870 to 1905, spearheaded by architect Lyssandros Kaftatzoglou, who also oversaw the restoration of Agia Irini church. In the wake of the 1981 and 1991 earthquakes, the church sustained heavy damage, necessitating over 15 years of restoration work. Today, the Agios Konstantinos & Elenis Church has been fully restored and stands as a testament to Athens' rich cultural heritage.
