Kea Churches - The Panagia Kastriani Church in Kea, Greece is a sacred site and a patron saint of the island. Situated on the northern side of Kea, the church sits atop a hill providing breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. Legend has it that in 1700 AD, shepherds spotted a glowing light on Kastri Hill and discovered an icon of the Virgin Mary. They then constructed the church at that very spot. Every year on August 15th, the monastery celebrates the feast of the Virgin Mary, drawing in visitors from all over the world.
