Initially, a humble chapel hermitage, the monastery underwent a renovation by Nikiforos, an abbot of the St. John monastery, in 1613. It was then dedicated to Luke the Evangelist. In 1937, the monastery saw further expansion as it welcomed new buildings built by the monk Amfilohios Makris, who later founded the Monastery of the Annunciation.
