Kechries Port in Korinthia, Peloponnese
Korinthia Sights & Monuments - Kechries Port in Korinthia, Peloponnese, is a stunning natural bay that was once the primary Saronic Gulf port of the region. Today, visitors can still see remnants of the two ruined piers, which sit opposite each other. In the past, there was a building between them, but it may have been destroyed and lost to the sea after an earthquake. Interestingly, excavations at the bottom of the bay have revealed a treasure trove of artifacts, including exquisite paintings and glass/ivory opera sectile dating back to the 4th century AD. These treasures can be viewed today at the Archaeological Museum of Isthmia.
