Delphi Sights & Monuments - Located beyond the sacred way, high up on a hill in Delphi, Greece, is the impressive ancient stadium of Delphi. This ancient stadium, which dates back to the 5th century B.C., is renowned as one of the most famous in all of Greece. Over the centuries, it underwent several remodels, with its present form being acquired in the 2nd century A.D., thanks to the funding of Herodus Atticus, who financed the construction of stone seating and an arched entrance. With a seating capacity of around 6,500 spectators, the stadium was primarily used for athletic events and music festivals during the Pythian and Panhellenic games.
